Peter Thompson, 51, of Galloway, is a former teacher at the Atlantic County Institute of Technology (ACIT), according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Earlier this year, ACIT officials notified law enforcement that a student disclosed several instances of inappropriate sexual behavior by Thompson, the prosecutor said.

Subsequently, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, along with the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office, began an investigation that allegedly uncovered multiple complaints from other students at the school. As a result of the investigation, Thompson, who is no longer employed by ACIT, was charged with multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a child, criminal sexual contact and official misconduct, the prosecutor said.

Thompson was taken into custody in Galloway and taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing. This continues to be an active investigation.
